Peer Review Process

At Magistra Andalusia: Jurnal Ilmu Sastra, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic rigor and integrity. To ensure the quality and reliability of the research we publish, all submitted manuscripts undergo a thorough double-blind peer review process. This means that both the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process, ensuring impartial and objective evaluations.

Key Features of Our Peer Review Process:

  1. Initial Editorial Assessment:

    • Upon submission, each manuscript is first reviewed by the journal’s editorial team to assess its relevance to the journal’s scope, adherence to submission guidelines, and overall scholarly merit. Manuscripts that do not meet these initial criteria are returned to the authors for revision or are rejected.
  2. Assignment of Reviewers:

    • Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers who have relevant expertise in the subject area of the manuscript. These reviewers are carefully selected from a pool of qualified scholars to provide an informed and fair evaluation.
  3. Double-Blind Review:

    • In line with the double-blind review process, the identities of both the authors and the reviewers are kept confidential. Authors will not know the identities of the reviewers, and reviewers will not know the identities of the authors. This ensures that reviews are based solely on the quality of the research and writing, free from any potential bias.
  4. Review Criteria:

    • Reviewers assess the manuscript based on several key factors, including:
      • Originality and significance of the research
      • Clarity of the research question and objectives
      • Theoretical framework and methodology
      • Relevance and depth of the literature review
      • Soundness of the analysis and interpretation of results
      • Overall contribution to the field of literary studies
      • Quality of writing and adherence to ethical standards
  5. Reviewer Recommendations:

    • After completing their evaluations, reviewers submit one of the following recommendations:
      • Accept as is
      • Accept with minor revisions
      • Revise and resubmit for further review
      • Reject
  6. Editorial Decision:

    • Based on the reviewers' reports, the editorial team makes a final decision regarding the manuscript. If revisions are required, authors are given a detailed report outlining the necessary changes. The revised manuscript may be sent back to the original reviewers for further evaluation or reviewed by the editors before a final decision is made.
  7. Timely Process:

    • We strive to provide authors with feedback in a timely manner. The typical timeframe for the entire peer review process, from submission to the final decision, is between 4-6 weeks. In case of any delays, authors will be promptly informed and given the opportunity to withdraw their submission if necessary.
  8. Publication Dates:

    • Once a manuscript is accepted, the dates of submission, acceptance, and publication will be included in the published article to maintain transparency.
