Authorship and Contributorship

1. Introduction

Magistra Andalusia: Jurnal Ilmu Sastra (MAJIS) is committed to ensuring that authorship and contributorship are assigned transparently, fairly, and accurately.

Authorship is an important form of scholarly attribution and carries both credit and responsibility. The designation of authors must therefore reflect genuine intellectual and scholarly contributions to the work. Individuals who have made substantial contributions but do not meet the requirements for authorship should be appropriately acknowledged rather than listed as authors.

MAJIS requires all authors to agree to the authorship of the submitted manuscript and to take responsibility for their respective contributions. The journal expects authors to resolve authorship arrangements among themselves before submission and to communicate transparently with all co-authors throughout the editorial and publication process.

This policy has been developed with reference to the COPE Core Practice on Authorship and Contributorship, relevant COPE guidance and discussion documents, and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) authorship criteria as the journal's stated authorship standard. MAJIS applies the ICMJE four criteria to determine authorship, while using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) to provide additional transparency concerning individual contributions.

The journal does not regard authorship as a reward for position, seniority, supervision, funding, institutional affiliation, or participation in a research group alone. Authorship should reflect substantive intellectual contribution and accountability for the published work.

This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to, accepted by, or published in MAJIS, including research articles, conceptual papers, and other scholarly contributions for which authorship is applicable.

2. Description

2.1 Definition of Authorship

For MAJIS, an author is an individual who has made a substantial intellectual contribution to the work and who satisfies all four of the following criteria:

  1. made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data or other research materials;

  2. participated in drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content;

  3. approved the final version to be published; and

  4. agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work and to ensure that questions relating to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
